Gettysburg
Description
During the four-hour and 1-hour civil war, there is a depiction of historical and combat events that took place. It is a realistic view of the thousands of civil war re-enactments waged by the federal army and the Northern Virginia Army. During that documentary presentation, Beckett's drawings will be highlighted in that three-day battle. Also, many letters of command officers, plans and personal reflections of combat men in a clear picture and a comprehensive look at that war, which aroused great controversy.

Ought to be seen for Jeff Daniels' performance alone.

While sincerity obviously can't guarantee quality, it's still a refreshing step up from the blatant commercialism of most West Coast media projects.

The result is not without interest, but the sheer length is a ridiculous indulgence.

It's a movie that parades authenticity, but never settles on its own point of view.

Wins the day by giving a detailed of the three-day battle (for the first time in a feature film), shot on the actual locations where the events took place. [Blu-ray]

Mr. Daniels's luminous performance as the heroic colonel dominates ... half of the film. And when the actor all but disappears in Part 2, he is sorely missed.

Gettysburg succeeds as a motion picture event, and as a re-creation of a pivotal chapter of American history.
